However, if you do not know much about this consultant, you might want to check them out. A happy consultant likely has clients who will be more than willing to praise them. You can also check them with other people that you know in the industry, if they are any good then they will have a positive reputation.
One of the most important things to think about when you are hiring a consultant, and especially when it comes to real estate is how much it is going to cost you. If you are brokering a high end property and having a difficult time selling it, your real estate business consultants might take a higher chunk of your cut on the sale. This benefits them quite well, and you still do get a decent portion of what you make, but it does affect your overall profit nonetheless.
Yet another problem to think about when it comes to real estate & property management business consultants is that they get paid no matter what. Sometimes there are clauses that stipulate payment even if a piece of real estate or property does not meet what you hope for it to. You need to read any and all contracts carefully before you go ahead and sign them. Also, have a lawyer look them over to check for any potential problems. While most of the time you are not going to have anything to worry about, it is better to be safe than sorry. Even after you have signed your contract, you need to continue to think about what to do to benefit you. A consultant is not a business partner, just someone who recommends which direction you should take.
